A handing and taking over programme of the new team of Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) was held on January 6 at its headquarters Longleng. A press release by PPC informed that the near team for the tenure 2024-2026 would be led by Y. B. Angam as president; Mailu Phom, N.T. Thamlong Phom and C. Bhupei Phom as vice-presidents; L. Hamyei Angh as the general secretary and Chinglau Phom, B. Chingshauh Phom, S. Namshing Phom, L. Pangnau Phom, B. Chingmei Phom and Y. Henmei Phom as secretaries for Namching, Tamlu, Longleng, Sakshi, Kohima/Dimapur and Yongnyah zones respectively. The team also comprises of three other members and 11 members of PPC advisory board.
Exhorting the gathering at the programme, N. Metpong Phom, ex-minister, emphasised on importance of unity as it represents togetherness. He also called on the new team to render their service to uplift Phom community and work in unity.
A short speech on behalf of the outgoing team was delivered M. Shami Angh. He highlighted the works which the council had accomplished under his leadership.
The new PPC president, Y. B. Angam Phom assured to serve the organization to the fullest capacity to achieve the dreams and goals of the people of Phom. He also asked the community for their fullest cooperation.
The new team was blessed by Longleng Town Baptist Church Pastor Rev. H. Beaü Phom with a prayer. The programme was chaired by C. Hentok Phom and welcome speech by Y Nyampong Phom.
