SAKK 48th general conference underway at Puneboqa

Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) 48th general conference commenced on January 9 at Puneboqa Village, Pughoboto, Zunheboto district. Focussed on the theme “A Resilient Aphuyemi,” drawing 1078 delegates representing 24 units of student unions.


In a press release, SAKK through its media cell informed that Dr. Sukhato A, MLA 13th A/C Pughoboto, was the chief guest, who was accompanied by distinguished individuals such as BDO RD Block Ghathashi, Obed Achumi, and SDPO Pughoboto, Hankiumong among other officials, who shared insights and encouraged students to value their roots as an integral aspect of life.


Guest speaker, former minister Y Vikheho Swu, motivated students to strive for excellence, emphasizing the importance of practicality and cultivating qualities that contribute to personal growth.
Swu said it was time for the youths to change their mindset from a “welfare state to a developing state” in line with the government’s vision of moving “towards a state of excellence”.


Swu, challenged the youths not to rest on past laurels but instead work to bring laurels for oneself, one’s village and for Nagas as a whole.
Stating that India was poised for economic growth with the power of the youths, he called upon the gathering to compete and be at par with the rest of the country’s youths. He urged the gathering to do away with laziness and also put in one’s owns hard work in whatever field one was good at.


Swu was accompanied by the rank and file of NDPP Pughoboto Region. GB chairman NSMDC, Kuputo Shohe, who was also the chief guest imparted a crucial lesson to today’s leaders, the importance of embracing responsibilities and preserving cultural heritage, not just through attire but also through folklores, songs, games, and various other aspects.


Notable figures like chairman Bio Resource, Government of Nagaland, Awan Konyak, general manager NSMDC, Albert Yanthan, proprietor Ramung Enterprises Manipur, Soron Ramung, and manager NSMDC, Aosenti Longkumar were also present at the conference.
Dr. Lovika P. Shikhu underscored the critical need to confront ongoing stigmas surrounding mental health issues, questioning the true value of education if it fails to shift our perspectives. Her presentation urged a collective effort to foster understanding and support in addressing these challenges.


Representatives from other unions, including Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu Toshika K Kiba, assistant general secretary SKK, joined in encouraging parents to support their children in discovering their potential rather than imposing decisions on them for their well-being.
President Rengma Students Union, Ajo Tsela, inspired students with a challenge to aspire to significant achievements, urging them to become influential individuals in life by the time they attend the next generation conference.


The conference features diverse activities, encompassing volleyball for both men and women, Sumi essay writing, Sumi poetry, Aphu Shekiqhe Leshe—an opportunity for individuals to eloquently express the marvels of their native places—alongside engaging events such as folk dance, folk song, folk games, and numerous other captivating activities.
