JUK condemns assault on member

Jakhama Union Kohima (JUK) has vehemently denounced the appalling physical assault on its member and president of the All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU), Kohima Unit, Vizothal Zhotso on January 6 at his residence, New Ministers’ Hill colony, Kohima. In a condemnation note, JUK said Zhotso was assaulted by two unknown armed assailants who ruthlessly left him unconscious and termed the brutal attacked as an attempt to murder.

Stating that such cowardly and violent acts have no place in a cultured community, the union demanded the perpetrators to come forward and provide a justification for their barbaric actions at the earliest. JUK said failure to do so would compel the union to take its “own course of action, leaving no stone unturned”.

Given the significant mental trauma inflicted upon the family members of Zhotso, who is currently suffering from serious injuries, JUK has fervently appealed to the law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation process and apprehend the culprits in a timely manner.
