Poor connectivity hampered Saramati belt tourism: Kaito

Minister of Public Works Department-Roads and Bridges (PWD-R&B), G. Kaito Aye said people in the Saramati belt were blessed with beautiful landscape with high tourism prospects but they could not benefit from it due to bad road connectivity. According to a DIPR report, Kaito was speaking at the inaugural programme of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Road Phase 1 and 2 at Public Ground, Kiusam Town, Kiphire on January 11.


Noting that the government was eager to develop the area, Kaito said development has reached Kiusam area due to the cooperation extended by the people. He therefore urged the people to continue to extend cooperation and support for more development.
The minister also informed that trans road construction from Thonok Kiusam-Pungro-Meluri was awaiting clearance.


At the programme, short speeches were delivered by Benei M. Lamthiu, MLA, EE Kiphire, Er. Hutoshe and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kiphire, D. Robin. Other highlights of the programme included cultural folk dance by Sangkumti Village and Kiusam Town Women Union. The programme was chaired by T. Asang Mary. The minister also inaugurated the Phelungre- Kiusam Zinki Bridge.
