Minister unhappy with quality of road at Tuensang

Expressing disappointment over the quality of blacktopped road between Bazaar Police Point to High School junction, Tuensang Town, minister, Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) housing and mechanical engineering. P. Bashang Chang has said that the pending bills would not be released unless the work was completed in a “satisfactory manner”.

A press release by the press secretary to the minister stated that after inspecting the road work along with officials from Tuensang district administration and concerned departments, during his recent visit to Tuensang Town, Chang that the work being carried out was “totally unsatisfactory”.

The minister questioned the contractor and workers on the quality and workmanship and said that it was “disrespectful” to the people of Tuensang. He further advised the contractor, the construction site in-charge, and the labours to rework in the interest of the public.
Chang also assured the citizens that unless the work was completed in a “satisfactory manner” the pending bill would not be released.
On January 15, the minister along with department officers of mechanical engineering and PHE inspected the drainage re-routing site between Yungphaang Village and Tuensang.

After a thorough deliberation, the team noted that the drainage linkage between Yungphaang Village and Tuensang Town has to be diverted since the existing drainage system does not serve the purpose.

The minister and his wife, Alem Bashang along with BJP party officials also visited a burial ground which has no proper connectivity. Having noted the grievances of the public, Chang assured to “construct an avenue from the highway to the cemetery within few days”.
