The third day of the ongoing Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) golden jubilee celebration on Sunday witnessed Eucharistic procession, where thousands of faithful took part in prayer and song. The procession started from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) ground, Sechü Zubza, Kohima and proceeded towards the highway and then back to the venue. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima stressed on God’s infinite love and invited everyone to embrace it.
Dr. Thoppil also encouraged the Catholic Youth to be catalysts for change and harbingers of peace, particularly in Nagaland by demonstrating faith in a world marked by “moral bankruptcy”.
Highlighting the impactful role of sincere Catholic officers, Bishop of Kohima encouraged marching courageously without counting the cost, trusting in God’s reward.
During the mass, chaired by advisor, ACYA Zeneikho-o Benedict Pfukha, the first reading read was carried out by Dr Noraho Nobert and the second by Vikisienuo Ivy. In the afternoon session, professor Christian Institute for Theological Engagement (CHRISTE) Malaysia, Rev. Dn. Dr. Sherman Kuek OFS, shared his journey of having embraced the Catholic Church from the Protestant church. The day concluded with the jubilee night featuring performances from guest artists, including musicians Keneisenuo Sorhie, LC Sekhose, and Mhasheve Tetseo, along with comedian Aseno Ayemi and choir by Kohima town ACYA.
Meanwhile, the new of the ACYA led by Beituo Cyril as president, Letuozo Patrick as vice president; Menuotuonuo Monica Kera as general secretary and others executive members was blessed by the Bishop.
The four-day event will culminate on Monday with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Rev. Fr. Thomas Megorieto, Assistant Priest, Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Kohima.
