Marathon race for women in Longleng

In commemoration of National Day of the Girl Child, District Administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Woman (DHEW), Longleng organized a marathon race on January 22, under the theme “ I Came, I Ran, I Finished”, at Longleng. A DIPR report informed that the marathon, which was organised as part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao week long campaign, was flagged off by DC Longleng, Dharam Raj.


The race started at NST junction till Lempong junction and back to the starting point. Eimei Angloi C, from Shauli ward bagged the first while Yunglei. L from PPC ward and C. Chunggoi from Bahonk ward finished in second and third positons.
SDO(C) and Nodal Officer BBBP Longleng Meyazungba Jamir, in his short address, highlighted that women and girls in Nagaland outperformed men when it comes to education.


“Women will eventually dominate the state when it comes to education because knowledge is power, and education will overcome any shortcomings”, Jamir said. Earlier, Shingyom, Deaconess Longleng Town Baptist Church pronounced the invocation.


Longleng district to celebrate National Day of the Girl Child
District Administration & District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Longleng will be celebrating National Day of the Girl Child on January 24 at DPDB Hall, DC Complex Longleng. In this regard, five Girl students’ each from every school under Longleng town along with teacher in charge have been asked to attend the programme. Prize distribution for father- daughter Photography competition and winners of marathon race competition will be held on the same day.
