Can Youth organized awareness and advocacy programme on, “Right to Education, Right to Health (Drug Abuse, Mental Health & Menstrual Hygiene) Skill Building and Leadership”, on February 4, at Mhainamtsi village under Jalukie. At the event, formation of Adolescent Girls Club, under the project “Development4Adolescent”, and supported by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies (RNP), was also taken up.
A press release by Can Youth, informed that in the session, Founder and Chief Functionary, Can Youth, Jenpu Rongmei expressed appreciation to Rongmei Community of Mhainamtsi village for giving the opportunity and shared about the thematic areas of Can Youth.
A short meeting with village leaders was also held where the Can informed on the crucial role to be taken up by the Child/Adolescent Support Committee (CASC) for the well-being and safety of children and adolescents.
The release further informed that Project Coordinator, Can Youth, Mary Konyak, in session with adolescent girls encouraged them to learn and know about the menstrual cycle, mental health and its importance for their health. She further explained about formation and guidelines for Adolescent Girls club, and about various activities relating to leadership, menstrual hygiene, mental health, Right to Education and substance abuse, brainstorming workshops, Adolescent fest, and Adolescent Retreats which will be conducted once the club will be formed.
