One day farmers’ training on “promotion of vegetable crops for livelihood security under changing climatic scenario” was organised by All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP-vegetable crops), Nagaland Centre, School of Agricultural Sciences: Nagaland University (SAS:NU), under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) NU on February 13 at NU, Lumami, Zunheboto.
A press release by AICRP (vegetable crops) Nagaland Centre stated that the training was organised with an aim to make farmers aware of the changing climatic scenario, its impact on vegetable production, and mitigating strategies to deal with biotic and abiotic stress in vegetable production under changing climatic scenario. During the technical session was conducted by scientist, AICRP-vegetable crops, SAS:NU, Dr. Ashwini Ananda suggested farmers to use improved varieties which could tolerate climatic stress. He briefed them on using of protected structures and weather forecasting.
Chief Technical Officer (Horticulture), KVK, NU, Edenly Chishi also spoke about various pests and disease of vegetable crops and their mitigation strategies under changing climatic scenario. The training was attended by about 60 farmers.
