In view of the upcoming Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Sunday on March 3, a workshop was organized for health workers under Urban Block under Chief Medical Officer Dimapur at CMO’s Conference Hall on Friday. District Programme Officer, UIP-RCH Dimapur, Dr. Rebecca, as resource person reminded health workers of the eradication of indigenous wild poliovirus type 3 in India since 2019, cautioning against the risk of re-emergence from endemic countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan. She urged sustained efforts in immunizing children through routine coverage and acute flaccid paralysis surveillance.
During IPPI 2024, she stressed mobilizing beneficiaries for vaccination. Rebecca instructed marking vaccinated children’s left little finger with indelible ink and correct house marking. Reviewing district immunization performance, she urged micro-plan analysis to address gaps and emphasized four key messages for health workers: vaccine details, minor side effects, next visit schedule, and card safety. The training was attended by AYUSH Medical Officers, Community Health Officers (CHO), and Auxiliary Nurse and Midwives (ANMs) under Urban (Sadar) Block, Dimapur district.
