A four-day first “Fusion Fest” of Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu held under the theme, “Navigating Our Roots” commenced on February 27 at the College premises.
A press release by MCTE Yimyu informed that the inaugural day was marked by cultural and literary competitions and graced by assistant professor, department of botany, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and advisor, Arju Centres, Mokokchung, P. Tiatemsu.
In his address, Tiatemsu stressed on the work culture, traditional knowledge and community life, and underscored the importance of upholding the intangible cultural aspects which are passed through generations.
He said it was the ardent duty of each person to take the responsibility of spreading their rich cultural knowledge to the next generation.
Tiatemsu also encouraged the students to emphasise hard work, to be resilient, to have purpose in life and to have indigenous knowledge.
Other highlights of the programme included a welcome address by MCTE principal, Dr T. Alemla Longkumer, events’ highlights by MCTESU general secretary, Maongsunep Kichu, and a special presentation entitled, “Naga Lima” by Imnasenla.
The programme was chaired by Onenla Jamir while Campus Dwellers’ Fellowship president, Chongten, invoked God’s blessings.
