A team from All India Radio (AIR) on Wednesday conducted a preliminary inspection of 1kw FM relay centre at Wokha, Vankhosung following an appeal from the Lotha Hoho to the principal director general of AIR, Akashvani Bhavan, New Delhi for the upgradation of the existing FM relay centre to an FM Programme generating station, a cluster from AIR Kohima.
The team led by deputy director general (engineering) and cluster head of Akashvani Dibrugarh, KK Rengma, visited the site to assess its suitability for a trial run of a local radio station (LRS) at the existing location.
Prior to the inspection, the team met with the district administration Wokha and received assurances of cooperation for the proposed project. Members of civil society organisations (CSOs) including Lotha Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union and council chairmen of Wokha Village accompanied the team during the inspection.
During interaction, members of CSOs assured to extend support and assistance for the project implementation. The team is expected to submit a feasibility report along with a tentative plan for the project launch through e-file in due course.
Others inspection team members included deputy engineer and cluster head S. Udaiyar, head of programme LK Mulony, programme executive (Co) Rachel Shimray, programme executive Lhoulibenio Khezhie, programme executive from Akashvani Kohima Habemo Ngullie, engineering assistant from Akashvani Kohima A. Athisii and engineering assistant from Wokha Matsungtoshi Ao.
