Phek Government College (PGC) Science Club, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) celebrated “National Science Day” under the theme, “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat” on February 28.
A press release by PGC informed that resource person, assistant professor, department of Zoology, Lydia Keyho, stressed the theme which focuses on the vision of a fully developed India and finding solutions to challenges as the people move forward as a country.
She also highlighted the importance of science and technology in making India a self-reliant country, and celebrated the successes of Indian Scientists.
A competition of prepared speeches on the theme, “Science for a sustainable Future” was also held with assistant professors PGC, Dr. Nutazo Lohe, Shesalu Lohe and Mughato K. Kiba as judges.
A total of four schools participated in the competition, wherein Sugulu Nienu of Christian Mission Hr. Secondary School, Phek, bagged the first position and Sebalu Rhakho of Royal Foundation School, Phek and Setseno Nuwiry of Holy Care School, Phek bagged the second and third positions respectively.
The program was chaired by assistant professor, department of Zoology, Nisekhoto Nisa, invocation by librarian PGC, Akhrienuo, a welcome note was delivered by PGC principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir and a special song by the B.Sc. 6th semester students.
NSC: Nagaland Science Centre (NSC) Dimapur celebrated “National Science Day” by organising the “4th Innovative Science Working Model Exhibition” on February 28 with chief scientific officer department of Science and Technology, Er. Kevitso Kenneth, as special guest. The exhibition was won by Government Higher Secondary School, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur while Great Commission School, Chümoukedima and Pilgrim Higher Secondary School Dimapur bagged the second and third positions respectively.
Altogether, 16 schools from Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts participated in the exhibition.
