Prom Students’ Conference seals Medical Superintendent establishment Longleng

Prom Students’ Conference (PSC) on Friday informed that the establishment of the Medical Superintendent (MS), district hospital Longleng, was sealed on over the failure of MS to report after placement.
PSC through its media cell said that the decision to seal MS office was decided at a meeting. It said that the office would continue remain sealed until the matter was addressed urgently.

PSC said it had on many occasions submitted office memorandum for the posting of MS through the directorate of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW), DC Longleng and chief medical officer (CMO) Longleng. The student body reminded that official notification of transfer and posting of medical doctors under H&FW department was notified on October 11, 2023.
However, despite multiple office applications, PSC said the Orthopedies consultant, district hospital Dimapur (PoP) against the transfer of MS district hospital Longleng, has not taken the charge till date, which it described as “an act of callousness to the Phom Community in general.”

According to PSC, the district hospital Longleng was facing immense hardship due to shortage of manpower, adding patients were forced to seek medical care outside the district. It stated that economically weaker section of society was very much dependent on the government health infrastructure as it served as the secondary referral hospital for all the villages under Longleng district.

Therefore, PSC has asked the responsible authority to take cognizance of the grievance on or before March 4. PSC cautioned that it would take its own course of action to extent of sealing CMO office Longleng and that the health department would be solely responsible and accountable for any loss of lives.
