Hangthing awarded Padma Shri

DIMAPUR, MAY 27 (NPN)

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conferred the Padma Awards to recipients from various fields during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Among them, L Hangthing, a fruit farmer from Noklak was awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Agri-culture.
The President gave away seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday evening.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Centre had announced the awardees on the eve of Republic Day 2025.
With over 30 years of experience, Hangthing is known for introduction of non-native fruit and vegetable saplings in the region. He also disseminated his knowledge to over 200 farmers across 40 villages in the Nagaland. It was also learnt that his innovative farming techniques have been adopted by over 400 households in the area.
