Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Niuland in collaboration with All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Linseed conducted a field day at linseed field and farmer-scientist interaction at Vihokhu Village on February 29. A press release by ATMA Niuland stated that resource persons were from KVK (Indian Council of Agriculture Research), and AICRP on Linseed, School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University (NU), Medziphema.
Resource person, junior breeder from AICRP on Linseed, Dr. A.K.Singh, highlighted on the importance and uses of linseed and encouraged more farmers to opt for its cultivation.
ACTO (plant breeding), KVK-ICAR, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, sensitised about the selection of proper certified seed varieties of any crops before cultivating at their respective fields and follow certain technical methods from the departments.
ACTO (animal science), KVK-ICAR, Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, emphasised on the selection of proper breeds of livestock and follow biosecurity measures in order to reduce the risk of introduction and spread of diseases and prevention of outside agents from entering a farm.
During the programme chaired by BTM Niuland Block, Demalu Hasnusa, various queries were put up by the participants mostly women farmers on the post-harvest management of linseed, selection of proper seed varieties of maize and paddy, pig feed and disease management.
