Tourney for Kohima district GHS/GHSS

The one-day tournament 2024 of Kohima district Government High School (GHS)/ Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) was held at D Khel ground, Kohima on March 8. A press release from GHSS media team informed that the tournament was organised by District Education Office (DEO), Kohima. A total of 16 GHS/GHSS participated with about 180 athletes while all the winners will represent the district in the upcoming inter-district GHSS/GHS tournament on March 14 and 15 in Kohima.


In a short speech, District Education Officer (DEO) Kohima, Emilo Patton said education is a process of learning and lessons can be learned from all aspects of life and added that games and sports have become an integral part in students’ life. She told the students that the value of sports cannot be overlooked stating that it helps in the overall growth and development of students’ lives.


Patton said having a sports tournament is an important event in one’s life as it brings healthy recreation while it echoes the learning process of the students and also expounded the various benefits and virtues of sports. She also told the participants to know the value of sports and exhibit their talents in order to be successful in their lives in the field of sports.


The programme was led by ADEO Kohima, Patricia Vizo, who also handed over the awards to the winners. Earlier, invocation prayer was said by PET, GHS Rusoma, Thepfusetuo and oath taking was administered by PET, Dr. N Kire, GHSS Kohima, Neilazetuo.
