Scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming election to the state’s lone Lok Sabha seat has been completed. Commissioner Nagaland and Returning Officer Sushil Kumar Patel conducted the scrutiny on Friday in the presence of general observers P Ramesh and Avinash Champawat.
The candidates who have been deemed validly nominated, meeting all electoral guidelines and eligibility criteria issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) include Dr Chumben Murry from the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Supongmeren Jamir from the Indian National Congress (INC), and Hayithung Tungoe Lotha, Independent.
However, the nomination paper of the substitute candidate from Congress was rejected as the main candidate’s nomination papers were found to be in order.
Witnessing the scrutiny proceedings were Dr Murry, Hayithung, and a representative of Jamir, ensuring transparency and accountability for a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
