Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee and National People’s Party have extended Aoleang and Monyu festival greetings.
In a post on X, Rio extended greetings to the Phom community on the occasion of Phom Monyu. “May the essence of the festival, which is love, sharing and friendship foster oneness and strengthen relationships,” he said.
He wished the Konyak community on the occasion of Aoleang and wished that the “harvest be bountiful and the new year bring blessings of good health and fruitfulness in all our endeavours.”
Further, the chief minister also extended Kundaglün festival greetings to the Chang community. He said it was a festival to commemorated the construction of field huts.
“May the Almighty bless the works of our hands and make us fruitful in all our endeavours,” he said.
NPCC president S Supongmeren wished the Konyak and Phom tribes on the occasion of Aoleang and Monyu. “As you usher in another Spring with your trademark celebratory spirit of Love and Generosity, it is my ardent prayer that the Almighty continue to bless you with the gift of family, kinship and universal brotherhood throughout the year,” he said.
State NPP president A Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA and all rank and file of the party wished the Konyak and Phom tribes on the occasion of Aoleang.
NPP said that Aoleang, also known as Aoleang Monyu, is a vibrant week-long festival observed by the Konyak Nagas, predominantly in Mon district.
NPP said the festival holds great significance as it heralds the arrival of spring, marks the start of a new year, and signals the beginning of the planting season and also marks the beginning of a New Year for the Konyak community.
The festival also coincides with the sowing of seeds, and rituals performed to seek blessings from the divine spirits for a bountiful harvest.
Besides brings together families, relatives, and friends for a joyous occasion of feasting, dancing, and merriment, NPP said the Konyaks also use this time to remember and pay homage to their deceased loved ones.
