TPDU community fishing on April 5

Tsungiki-Philimi Doyang Union (TPDU) of Tsungiki Village Council under Wokha district and Philimi Village Council under Zunheboto district has informed that their annual community fishing would be held on April 5.


TPDU informed that the traditional piscicidal plant root will be pounded into the river Doyang at 10 am.
In this regard, TPDU chairman Akaukau Hokiye Assumi and secretary W. Wojanthung cautioned all concerned against bringing drugs or alcohol at the community fishing and warned that defaulter will be penalized Rs. 500 per and union members defaulting the same would be penalized twice the amount.


During the community fishing, except for Tsungiki and Philimi villagers, outside vehicles would be charged Rs. 100/- per vehicle and all males above the age of 20 coming without their own quota of traditional piscicidal plant root for pounding into the river would be charged Rs.500 per head.

They further informed that use of cast nets, life jackets, and tyres for catching fish would not be allowed above the ossa/aku (the traditional fish weir/trap constructed across the river during community fishing).
