‘Pledge for brotherhood not tribalism’

Neitsale N Zhasa (IFS), commissioner and secretary, Department of Agriculture while inaugurating the second phase of All Nagaland National Service Volunteer 2008 as chief guest, exhorted youth volunteers from all over the state to be a champion of ‘Naga-brotherhood and Naga-ism, but not tribalism.’
The training programme hosted by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima commenced on July 22 at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.
He exhorted the youth volunteers to prioritized one’s life, first thing should be ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God’, secondly to have self esteem with sound mind and sound body and thirdly to work hard for great achievements, as there is no substitute for hard work.
Expressing concern that in Naga society, extortion was pushing the Nagas to the edge, he said it was the direct outcome of half baked education system which has led to greediness, search for easy money etc. and has further promoted acrimony, arrogance, and total degeneration in the society.
Neitsale also appealed the youth to target excellence as the hall mark for success and further reiterated that, Scientific Technology has reached our door step but Naga intellectuals have failed to convert it into economic avenues. He further called upon the youth to be active collaborators of Economic partners as government of Nagaland has declared Food for all by 2020. Stating this in a release Bharat Duarah, DYC, camp-in- charge Tuensang, the National Service Volunteers representing different tribes of Nagaland held each others’ hand and took a pledge not to promote Tribalism among the Nagas, which was led by Rapvo Lotha (Avi), State Level Outstanding Youth Leader Awardee 2007 (NYKS).
Earlier in the programme, key note address was given by John Makhabo, DYC Mokokchung and experience sharing by Keleseho T?kr?, National Debate Champion 2007.
The 10 days long training will include topics on NYKS Structure and functions, Self Development/Personality Development, Youth Club Movement, NYKS Regular Programmes, Leadership, Youth and HIV/AIDS Project Planning Strengthen Youth Clubs, Group Exercises, Special Scheme, Assistant to Youth Club, Communication Skill, Administrative Skills, Working with SHG, Disaster management Ecology & Environment, Sport Class, Youth Club Movement, Blood Donation, Life skill Education Entrepreneurship Art of Speaking, Panchayati Raj etc. The training will culminate on July 31.
