Regional training on NREGS concludes

Week long regional training of trainers programme on “Planning and Implementation of NREGS” organized by the National Institute of Rural Development, North East Regional Centre, Guwahati (NIRD-NERC) at the State Institute of Rural Development, Kohima concluded on July 25 with V. Sakhrie, Commissioner & Secretary, Rural Development Department, as Chief guest of the valedictory function.
Stating this ina release Velu-o Shijo, Joint Director, SIRD said the chief guest in his valedictory address congratulated the participants for completing the training and wished them success in carrying out their works in the successful implementation of NREGS.
He said that the NREGS was very relevant in the economic development of the North Eastern States of India as such the region should take full advantage of the programme. He exhorted all present to work hard with commitment and sincerity and to live by deeds and not by ages. At length he touched upon the success of VDB system in the state of Nagaland which is being duly recognized by the UNO and also appreciated the social audit exercise conducted at Jakhama village in part of the training programme.
Dr T. Medhabati Devi from NIRD-NERC Guwahati was the Course Director. Other resource persons included Dr K. Haloi from NIRD-NERC Guwahati and Hemen Bora from DRDA, Assam. Altogether twenty-eight district level officers from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland attended the training.
