15th Sumi games and sports concludes

The 15th Sumi Games and Sports Association (SGSA) meet which began at Shokhuvi village, Chumoukedima, on April 2 hosted by Western Sumi Hoho concluded on April 10.
The guest of honor for the closing ceremony, advisor for Food & Civil Supply and Legal Metrology, KT Sukhalu, spoke at the final event where dignitaries from Sumi Hoho were present at the event. In his speech, the advisor encouraged Sumi youth to be passionate about anything they do.

“We are keen on sports, we love almost all kinds of games and sports. But if you’re only an occasional player, if you take it as your hobby, you’ll not be successful. Not everyone has to look for a government job, but if you want your love and talent for sports to be successful, you have to be consistent, passionate, and take it as your career”, said Sukhalu.

The tournament which lasted for 9 days, consisted of different disciplines of sports such as spear kicking, volleyball, badminton for both men and women, singles and doubles, as well as football. SGSA also introduced futsal for the first time, where Aqahuto area emerged as champions.

On the 9th day, the football final match was played between Kuhuboto Area Sports Association and Aqahuto Area Sports Association. Kuhuboto area defeated Aqahuto area with one goal.
In men’s volleyball, Akuluto VK Area defeated Highway Area in the final match, while Pughoboto Area defeated the Highway team in the women’s volleyball final to become champions.
