Contrary to the common saying that one should accept defeat gracefully, DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi on Saturday exhorted the youth never to accept defeat else the opportunity would be gone the moment one accepts it.
Speaking as chief guest at a seminar programme on ‘a step towards self -reliance among the Naga youth’, organized by Delhi Ao Students Union, Assumi called upon the youth to develop confidence and move ahead towards self reliance.
He emphasized on the necessity of state government to send youths for various professional training course outside the state so that trained youths could contribute their workmanship for economic stability in the state. This, he said by citing the example of China and Korea who initially had nothing economically but made use of human resource development by sending youths for professional training. He went on to say that state government too needed to emulate advancement by formulating proper rules and regulation for human resource development.
While encouraging the youths to take advantage of CM corpus fund and PMRY -loan assistance meant for unemployed youths of the state he urged them to take up constructive and innovative steps to achieve self reliance.
Expressing hope that the two day seminar would bear its fruit, Assumi urged the student union to conduct more programmes for the welfare of the youths of Nagaland.
The objective of the seminar was to help the Naga youths in identifying ones talents and strong areas and to select a career option that would strengthen one’s talent.
Resource persons Dr. Bijoy Goswami, senior faculty member from Delhi, Dr. Jamedi Longkumer, lecture in Philosophy, Dimapur Govt. College and Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir, managing director, heritage publishing house took over the second session, presented topics under the theme of the seminar and interaction with the participants.
Others who spoke at the function included Imlisunep, vice president, Delhi Ao Students Union, Sachung, president, Dimapur Ao Students Union and Imkong Kumzuk ex-convenor DASU.
