Assam Rifles continue to comb the state with flush out opperation against erring factions violating CFGR laid down by GoI. The last 72 hours saw AR stepping up vigil and sounding a state of high alert within the force deployed in Nagaland. Apart from keeping a strict vigil and carrying out vigorous patrolling in all identified sensitive areas, regular MVCP, PVCP and frisking of suspected vehicles and persons are being carried out to prevent any free movement of armed cadres within the state. Moreover, full cooperation is being extended to the civil administration in their efforts to flush out cadres from all civilian areas.
Stating this in a release Pallab Choudhury, PRO, IGAR (N) said on July 27 night, based on specific intelligence regarding move of armed cadres, a surprise stop was placed ahead of Kukilolong by 42 AR near Iron Bridge and a suspiciously moving Maruti Gypsy was apprehended. Search of the vehicle led to apprehension of SS Sgt of NSCN (IM) alongwith recovery of two AK 47 rifles, 100 live rounds, two hand grenades and a modified hand grenade. Subsequently two other vehicles were also nabbed with a total of 550 cadres of IMFL concealed inside. The entire recovery was subsequently handed over to Medziphema Police Station.
AR sources also revealed that elaborate plans have been chalked out to keep all sensitive areas under continuous surveillance and additional forces are being employed to choke all loopholes and thwart any plans of UG groups to vitiate peace in civilian populated areas. Earlier, AR has already issued a notice to all factions that no CFGR violations would be tolerated and stringent measures will be adopted to ensure cadres restrict themselves to designated camps laid down by GOI.
