As the indefinite shutter down in Dimapur entered its second day on April 27, residents of Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima, districts sought alternatives in neighboring Assam markets.
On Saturday, people in hundreds thronged the markets in Karbi Anglong district, Assam, to stock up essential supplies. Large numbers of cars, mostly from Nagaland, were seen lining up at gas stations in Assam, leading to traffic congestion along the highway. Concerns were also raised by shoppers regarding price hike by traders in Assam, however, the vendors denied any such discrepancies.
Similarly, the state-wide indefinite shutter down called by CNCCI also affected normal life in other parts of Nagaland as shops and business establishments remained closed for the day.
Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries has requested all concerned to extend cooperation to the business community and bear with any inconveniences for the larger interest of society.
KVC informs: Kohima Village Council (KVC) Saturday informed that all shops under its jurisdiction would remain closed from April 27-29, 2024.
In a circular, KVC chairman, Helievio Solo, said since the CNCCI indefinite shutter down was in the interest of the general public, the village would also initiate the same in its jurisdiction.
