Seriously viewing the death threat meted out to chief minister Neiphiu Rio, home minister Imkong L Imchen and state DGP, J Changkija by emissary to the collective leadership of GPRN/NSCN, Kughalu Mulatonu, the Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO) has condemned the same regretting that the threat had not been withdrawn in spite of clarion call for unconditional withdrawal of the statement by several apex Naga organizations.
NAPO president, Neitso Sugotsu and press secretary Silie Mepfhuo in a joint statement called for immediate withdrawal of the statement made by Mulatonu “lest he be held fully responsible in the event of any untoward incident against our three leaders.”
NAPO also said it viewed as “entirely illogical” the “cautionary” statement made against DC Kohima and the allegation that “Dobashis” and “Gaonburas” were working against the interest of the “Naga National Workers”. It reminded that the DCs were directed by the state government to effectively flush out underground cadres from civilian inhabited areas (i.e. from the undesignated area), where the state capital was no exception.
In this connection, the NAPO felt that the officials were only responding to the call of the government and not otherwise. NAPO further said that it unconditionally supported the ongoing “flush out” operation in and around Kohima.
