‘Friends of 80 Plus’ celebrates 19th foundation day

The 19th Foundation Day of “Friends of 80 Plus” Kohima Village was celebrated Tuesday at the Marochinno Hall, Christ King Church Kohima Village.
Speaking at the programme as the special guest, Northern Angami public organisation (NAPO) president, Keduo-o Zumu, emphasised the importance of expressing gratitude and love towards elderly people. He said they (grandparents) are significant blessings.
Zumu lauded Kohima Village for initiating a platform for the elderly people and expressed the hope that such an initiative would inspire other villages as well.


During the programme, 82-year-old Lhoubeii Solo mesmerised the gathering with a melodious song. A minute of silence was observed for departed members.
The “Friends of 80 Plus” Kohima Village currently has 207 members from four khels of the village – Lhisemia Khel (82 members), Dapfiitsumia Khel (52 members), Tsütuonuomia Khel (45 members) and Pfuchatsumia Khel (28 members).
The “Friends of 80 Plus” was formed by a few likeminded citizens of Kohima Village to create a platform for young people to celebrate the presence of grandparents and elders of the village. The programme was chaired by Vilakuolie Mere while Kevitsu Yhome delivered the vote of thanks. Later, a free check-up was given to all the 80 plus members.
