NSCN/GPRN (Khango) slams DCCI for blaming NPGs

NSCN/GPRN (Khango) through its MIP, has accused Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) of causing turmoil by instigating the recent “disruptive shutter down protest” after unjustly blaming all Naga political groups (NPGs) on multiple taxation.
MIP disclosed that following the state government’s acceptance of DCCI’s 5-point charter of demands and subsequent order by the home department against NPGs; the NSCN/GPRN held a “crucial meeting on 1st May, 2024” where the issue was thoroughly deliberated after which it was resolved that NSCN/GPRN government “is fully prepared even to the extent of abrogating the cease fire to safeguard the rights of the Naga national cause.”

MIP condemned the “irresponsible actions” of DCCI and described its members as “a group of self-serving individuals” having no authority to dictate matters of national importance. It said the Naga political struggle, including the right to levy taxes, was a matter solely between NSCN and Naga people since inception. It said DCCI’s “interference in a sensitive national issue” created confusion among the public and undermined the hard-earned progress of the Naga national movement over several decades.
MIP said since the Centre and NSCN/GPRN (K) signed a ceasefire agreement as a separate entity, the state government was not subjected to the political affairs of NSCN.

NSCN/GPRN(K) questioned the state home minister for issuing the directive for invoking National Security Act against individuals and to detain them outside the state. It termed the directive as “a mockery undermining the ceasefire ground rules and its mechanism.” It also said the state government and its home minister will be “solely held responsible for any consequences (that) arises towards NSCN members due to this misguided decision.”
Further, MIP also warned that it will explore all available avenues to expose the state government agencies, security forces, and committees/unions responsible for detrimental actions, and hold them accountable for the ensuing consequences in the second phase.
