Youngstars win Silver Cup 1st Super Six

Youngstars Cricket Club emerged as the champion of the Silver Cup first Super Six Tournament by defeating Fire Balls organized by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department (NBCK YD) on the theme “Peace and Unity through Cricket” at Razhükhrie GHSS ground, Kohima.
P press release by organising committee secretary Radhika Chetri informed that playing an exciting final match on Saturday, Youngstars CC defeated Fire Balls.


Deciding to field after winning the toss, Youngstars CC held Fire Balls at 61 runs while comfortably chasing it with four wickets in hand to lift the trophy, said
Champions Youngstars received Rs. 20,000 with trophy and citation while runners-up Fire Balls got Rs. 10,000 with citation.
In the individual awards, Highest Run was bagged by Kaif Ahmed of Youngstars CC (115 runs), Best Bowler by Rehan (Fire Balls) with 7 wickets in 4 matches; Player of the Tournament by Rupam (Fire Balls) 104 runs & 2 wickets. They received Rs. 1000 each with certificates.


Gracing the valedictory function as the chief guest, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland (Industries & Commerce), Kekhrievor Kevichusa gave away the prizes to the winners.
Exhorting the organizers, he said Super Six is a limited overs game where only one batsman can make the difference while players may not get the full ability to understand their potential.


One can have the ability to work on their skill in a 20 or 30 overs format, said Kevichusa, a former cricketer himself, while expressing hope that the NBCK YD would take initiative in organizing at least T20. He also encouraged players to take sports professionally by being disciplined, dedicated and hardworking.
Compered by Beenita Karki, the programme commenced with prayer by John Thakuri, organizing committee member Rahul Siwa proposed the vote of thanks and Youth Director Anup Kausal offered benediction while special number by Karisma Rasaily enthralled the gathering.
Altogether, 13 teams participated in the tournament which commenced on May 2.
