Eastern Sumi Totimi Hoho (ESTH) was officially inducted as affiliated organisation of Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) during affiliation programme held in at the conference hall of the Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC), ENWO headquarters, Longleng on May 17, 2024.
ENWO through its media cell described the event as “significant”, which is said was “a pivotal moment in strengthening ties and fostering unity” among women organizations in Eastern Nagaland. It also stated that the affiliation marks a significant step towards greater cooperation and support among women in Eastern Nagaland, paving the way for future collaborative efforts aimed at empowerment and development.
Speaking at the programme, ENWO president Yingphe Konyak emphasised the importance of unity and mutual upliftment. She said that women working together have the power to effect change, adding that “every single voice matters.” ENWO president encouraged the members present to set an example for the younger generation and to be advocates for others.
In her keynote address, Asangla Cholong, a founding member and advisor of ENWO, underscored the historical significance and future aspirations of the affiliation. She inspired the attendees with her vision for collective progress and empowerment.
Delivering short speeches, Representatives from ESTH and Sumi Totimi Hoho highlighted the “mutual benefits and shared goals of this new affiliation.” They emphasized the importance of respecting one another and working together in unity “underpinned by prayer and love.” Further, the representatives acknowledged that ESTH affiliation was a long-cherished dream that has finally come to fruition and expressed their solidarity with ENWO.
They urged everyone to foster solidarity by encouraging and supporting one another with confidence.
Earlier, PBCA women secretary P Angbhen Phom offered invocation at the programme, which commenced under the chairmanship of ENWO vice president B Lianghoi.
A special performance by Phomla Hoichem, i/c Phomla Hoichem president added a cultural touch to the event.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ENWO vice president Lemei B. Phom.
ENWO anthem “Arise Maidens of ENWO” was also presented at the programme.
