Chandmari HSS celebrates golden jubilee

Chandmari Higher Secondary School Kohima, celebrated its golden jubilee during a programme organised at the school premises, Lower PWD Colony, on Saturday. Chairperson of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Asano Sekhose attended the celebration as the guest of honour. She highlighted the imperative for social institutions to focus on educating and training students to navigate the rapid changes and diverse challenges in contemporary society.


Sekhose underscored the necessity of creating an environment that fosters a genuine thirst for knowledge, encouraging students to explore their passions naturally. She referenced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, describing it as a visionary framework aimed at a transformational shift in the education system, emphasizing the development of competencies and critical skills among learners.
Sekhose urged the school to explore every possible avenue to help students unleash their potential and chart their own paths to success.


Sekhose also stressed that the current learning process should focus on ensuring students grasp the fundamentals, achieve clarity, and develop critical and analytical thinking skills.
First president of All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA), Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie in his speech, highlighted the way in which the school was managed where it was not owned by individuals or church organisations but solely nurtured by people living in and around the school.


He said, although people come and go in the mobile locality, the management of the school had been done remarkably which was outstanding.
In a short speech, principal, Holy Family School Kohima, Ashikho Boso, said Chandmari HSS was one of the premier educational institutions in the State. He conveyed jubilee greetings on behalf of the neighbouring schools. He also thanked the school for selflessly helping out its neighbouring schools.


Earlier, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by pastor, Ao Baptist Church Shillong, Rev Dr Meyu Changkiri, while the celebration was compered by Ginpu Kipgen and Ketholeno Tase Kikon.


Welcome address was delivered by jubilee planning convenor and principal of the school, Asenla Temsu, while thanksgiving prayer was offered by pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Church, Rev Tiatoshi Longkumer and pastor, Immanuel Baptist Church Kohima, Zakiebeituo Metha pronounced the benediction.
A jubilant song was performed by the alumni while jubilee choir performed How Can I Keep from Singing.
