Assam Rifles create awareness of ‘drug abuse and de-addiction’

To educate and raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction while emphasising the importance of prevention and cure, Assam Rifles (AR) organised separate lectures on “drug abuse and de-addiction” on May 24 at Aboi Village, Mon district and Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Toluvi, Dimapur.


In Aboi Village, a lecture was organised for the local youth addressing drug abuse and de-addiction to foster community awareness. During the programme, speakers emphasised the multifaceted repercussions of substance abuse in society, encompassing mental, physical, and economic strains. AR said approximately 90 students and six school teachers actively participated in the event. Participants took a pledge to actively support each other in their journey towards recovery and to promote a drug-free community, stated AR.


LHSS Toluvi: An awareness lecture on “Drug Abuse” was held at Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Toluvi, Dimapur as part of “Meri Life Amplification 2024”. The event began with a lecture from the school principal, followed by an interactive session led by the company commander.


The lecture covered a range of topics, including the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals and communities, prevention and intervention strategies, and the treatment options and resources available for recovery.

AR said the initiative aimed to equip students with the knowledge and tools necessary to combat the widespread issue of substance abuse. Students were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles and avoid drug abuse, with the goal of creating a safer and more prosperous community. The programme saw the participation of 150 students and 10 teachers, fostering an environment of learning and engagement.
