Wokha District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held a meeting to review the monsoon preparedness for the district on May 27 at Deputy Commissioner Conference hall, Wokha.
According to DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan who chaired the meeting requested the departments to monitor the road conditions in their respective areas and divisions to ensure timely repair and maintenance of roads in case of any eventualities. He also directed the department of NH and PWD (Road & Bridges) to put up all machineries in place for emergency. DC further directed all concern to take up clearance of drainages and culverts at the earliest.
All line departments have been asked to submit damage report caused due to natural disaster at the earliest for onward submission to higher authority. With the onset of monsoon, floods, landslides and other kinds of disaster was expected to happen, the DC urged all departments to be prepared to tackle any eventualities. Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Wokha appraised the status and availability of food grains/essential commodities, fuel and LPG.
Chief Medical Officer, Wokha presented on the availability of medicines and essential drugs. In regard to the status of the road along the National Highway-2, E.E National Highway informed the members that construction of culverts, retaining wall and filling of pot-holes were under progress.
