NSDC issues directives for ethical practice in Dental clinics and hospitals

Nagaland State Dental Council (NSDC) has issued directives to all Dental clinics and hospitals to strictly adhere to ethical practice by doing procedures/ treatments according to one’s qualification and expertise.


This was among several resolutions adopted during the annual meeting of the council held on March 18.
In a notification issued by NSDC registrar cum secretary, Dr Imtiwabang Pongener, the council cautioned that failure to comply with these directives would result in punitive actions by the council.


Nagaland State Dental Council also directed all dental clinics and hospitals in Nagaland to maintain clinical records of all patients for a minimum of two years, in accordance with the Revised Dentists Regulations (Code of Ethics) 2014 set by the Dental Council of India.
This measure is intended to facilitate the tracking of all clinical activities in the event of any litigation or other legal proceedings, he council stated.


Furthermore, the Dental council warned that conducting procedures or treatments beyond one’s qualifications or certification, or any violation of the area of practice without proper qualifications or requisite training, would attract penalties as outlined in the Code of Ethics, 2014. The council urged all practitioners to comply with these regulations with utmost sincerity to avoid any legal complications and ensure the highest standard of patient care.
