JCF calls for correct usage of names of localities

Joint Council Forum (JCF), Dimapur has clarified that name ‘City Tower’ was the name of a building currently housing the HDFC and Bandhan banks but not the name of an area or colony as mistaken by some public.

JCF lamented that despite previous clarifications made by senior citizens and some councils, the name of the area was incorrectly called as ‘City Tower’ which persisted in official correspondence by the public and even Dimapur Municipal.

The forum pointed out that the iron structure at the junction of three colonies was originally named ‘Clock Tower’ by previous administrators and local leaders and not City Tower. The forum therefore urged for use of the official name ‘Clock Tower” instead of City Tower to avoid confusion.

JCF stressed that by adhering to the correct names, residents and stakeholders could prevent any future misunderstandings or discrepancy. Emphasising proper utilisation of this name to avoid any confusion among the public, JCF also suggested that DMC allocate funds to repair and reinstall the clocks on the tower, which were currently in disrepair.
