KSU, PVSU, TSU, ZSU sessions held

Various organizations over the past week hold sessions on separate occasions across Nagaland.
KSU: Kidima Students’ Union (KSU) celebrated its 53rd annual session from December 29 to 30 at Kidima village council hall, with director of school education, Senthang Rengma as chief guest.
In the programme, Senthang congratulated the villagers for their hard work, unity and sincerity that made the village popular. The director recalled since the year 1993 the village had made immense development.
He exhorted that “united we stand and divided we fall,” especially where people are growing in human resource development and job placement in the state as well as central services through competition which were all blessings from God.
Senthang added that hard work has no substitute and stressed on respect and obedience which were the core of life without which there was no scope for the future.
Additional director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Dr. Yore as the guest speaker advised students to get trained at young age.
Encouraging people to identify their talent and equip for competitive world, he said, discipline and punctuality were the essence of life. He urged the people to be trustworthy and responsible citizen.
Highlights of the programme were quiz, solo, cultural group song, extempore, debate, fancy dress and talent show.
Government officials from different departments, academicians, representatives of Southern Angami Students’ Union and various organizations, Vipopal Kintso former chairman of Kohima Municipal Council and Naga Students’ Federation including parents attended the programme. The Chief Guest donated a sum of Rs. 50,000 for KSU welfare fund. Unfurling of KSU flag by the chief guest, sports for physical fitness talent exposure, interaction followed by community feast were the highlights of the two-day programme.
PVSU : Pongidong Village Students union (PVSU) culminated its 58th annual session under the theme “Catalyst of Change” on December 30 at community hall Pongidong.
The programme was graced by junior engineer, Power Department, Wokha, Er. S. Zanathung Ezung as the chief guest, headmaster Mount Sinai School Wokha, Thungchibemo T. Humtsoe as the theme speaker and assistant professor, department of Political Science, St. Joseph College Jakhama, Lily Humtsoe as the resource person.
Addressing the session, the chief guest encouraged the students to keep distance from drunkenness, gambling, drugs and so on which would ruin their career but life itself.
He urged the students to make best use of the time when parents could support them financially.
He recommended the students to study consistently, which was the key to master the subject thoroughly. He also reminded the students to use the technology in a positive way.
Theme speaker who spoke on the topic “Catalyst of Change”, pointed out that, to be an agent of change, one should maintain strict punctuality, live by principle, forgive other before other apologized, give credit to other instead of claiming for yourself, contribute but to not expect from others, selfless sacrifice, change for better, change for progress, do good if not sponsored to do good.
Earlier, a minute silent prayer was observed paying reverence to the first graduate from Pongidong (1968) Lt. Abemo Ovung who breathed his last on December 28 at Kolkata. Greeting was brought by president WTPYF, Roland Humtsoe and SMC chairman Pongidong, Elvis Humtsoe, while PVSU report was read out by general secretary and finance secretary.
Special number was presented by PVSU officials, welcome address by president, Zacheo Ezung, vote of thanks by vice president, while invocation and benediction was delivered by Rev. Rapvuo Odyuo pastor PBC and Rev. Elhio Tsopoe, pastor CRC Pongidong.
TSU: Thipuzumi Students Union (TSU) celebrated its 68th session on December 29 at Thipuzumi village with the theme “Re-orientation of Education” with Dr.V.Thingo, an academician as the main speaker.
Addressing the session, Thingo dwelt on the theme about the changing pattern and needs of changing education with the test of time. He expressed happiness that more students were turning to technical lines and joining technical services. However, he regretted that high collar jobs are failing to achieve the expectation.
The speaker emphasized about experimentation of knowledge into application on ground for resource building. It is necessary that knowledge base and agricultural base of village should be turned to “hard capital” and “cash return”, he added.
He also said that since people’s economy revolved around money, application of ideas should turn to new trends of economic activities toward cash harvest and thereby promoting general economy of the people. Conversion of knowledge into resource building and practical application for hard cash was needed in the villages today, he further added.
Earlier, the speaker unfurled the union flag and opened up the 68th session. The various sessions were led by leaders Vetolü and Hüvesa Medeo, invocation prayers were offered by pastors Vejuyi Rose and Mhaseveyi Veyie respectively. Presidential address was given by president TSU, Vevosu Rhakho. Special songs and folk tunes were presented by various groups and individuals enthralling the gathering.
Literary report was presented by Vekhota Theluo, exhortation by Tavehu Thingo VCC, T.Rihuba & Erita, Thipuzumi VDB secretary. Words of encouragement were shared by agri field officer, Vevotalu Rhakho. Vote of thanks was conveyed by Vemhazo Tetseo, while benediction was offered by head deacon, Nekahi Veyie and women pastor TBC, Mhasezolu Chuzho. Students’ Union also presented meritorious awards to all the students who excelled in performances in studies.
Large number of villagers, elders, leaders, VCC members, VDB members, GBs, youth besides the students participated in the session.
ZSU: Zhavame Student’s Union (ZSU) held its 56th general session under the theme “get switched on and break the barriers” on December 28 and 29 at the Public Ampitheatre, Pame Tsudu, Zhavame village with additional secretary Horticulture Vechisalü Nukhu (NSS) as chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Nukhu said in this competitive world only the best and hard working people would achieve and there was no room for lazy people. Vechisalü Nukhu also said to achieve one’s dreams and goals one should have clean habits, discipline and active life, identify the gift and improve it.
She also said “we” should be thankful to God for modern technologies and gadgets which have improvised the living standard of humankind and not to misuse what God has blessed us.
Stressing on the theme of the session, Vechisalü Nukhu said if one has will power commitment and common sense one can break any barriers.
She also said one can compete with anyone in any profession by working hard, perseverance, positive attitude and faith in God.
Further Vechisalü Nukhu also encouraged the students to find ways for self employment and other alternate job opportunities.
Naga Student’s Federation (NSF) general secretary Boveio Poukai Duo who graced the occasion as guest of honour urged upon the gathering to have unity. He also congratulated the toppers and successful students of ZSU.
Highlights of the event included welcome song by Paovi Shupao & co., presidential address by Jonah Domeh exhortation by Zhavame Village Council chairman P.Paul Dukru, sharing by Khrutalu Domeh, Topper 2, M.A (English), special song by Zhavame Students’ Razeba town, general secretary report by Sanyi Domeh, folk song by Zhavame Women Society, declaration of newly elected office bearers (2016-2017).
Invocation prayers was said by pastor Zhavame Christian Revival Church Ngopi Rhi and dedicated by Ex-Catechist of St. Xavier’s Church, Zhavame while benediction was pronounced by associate pastor Vizo Pohena.
