LSU, JEK, NSU, LBC, CYE celebrate jubilee

Various organizations over the past week celebrated jubilee on separate occasions across the state.
LSU: Lirmen Students Union (LSU) platinum jubilee was held from December 28 to 29 at Lirem village under Mokokchung district under the theme “Resurgence” with parliamentary secretary for Agriculture & chairman NSAMBA, Dr. Benjongliba Aier as chief guest.
Speaking in the programme, Dr. Benjongliba urged the students to pursue their education to become assets for the people and not a liability. He also added that education should be pursued with a vision to help the people in various fields.
Lauding the student union for attaining 75 years, the parliamentary secretary said that that this village has produced many well-known personalities who were instrumental for the Aos and the Nagas.
He said without the past “we” cannot do anything for the present and future and therefore urged the students to rectify their past errors and move ahead with a better approach which would be befitting for all.
The main speaker District & Session Judge Mon, Mayang Lima (NJS) spoke on the topic “Social Resurgence”.  More than a thousand students from in and outside the state attended the two-day jubilee celebration.
JEK: JEK Welfare Society Tesophenyu established in 1990 celebrated its silver jubilee on December 30 at Tesophenyu village, with parliamentary secretary Housing, Er. Levi Rengma and curator department of Art and Culture, Shingato Rengma as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said “jubilee is the time when members of the society should forgive one another and bridge the differences through mutual love and sense of unity”.
He also encouraged the society members to continue to upkeep the traditional practices through folksongs and dances.
Earlier in the morning, the chief guest also inaugurated the newly build library hall constructed under the Rajaram Mohon Roy Library Foundation Scheme.
Er. Levi called upon the people to make good use of the library and gave his commitment that he would subscribe local news dailies, magazines and books for the library.
 President of JEK Welfare Society, David Magh expressed his profound gratitude to the director, Art and Culture for availing the scheme to the Society.
The guest of honour in his speech called upon the society members to go forward in unity and work along in preserving the rich traditional culture of the village.
Other highlights of the programme include traditional folk songs presented by JEK women and men folk and traditional dance by the youth. The programme was chaired by Thomas Magh and vote of thanks was proposed by Kehoyi Kez.
NSU: Nerhema Students’ Union (NSU) celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme “Transcendence” on December 3.
Speaking at the celebration as the theme speake, Kohima additional deputy commissioner Lithrongla T. Rutsa urged student bodies to give more focus in preparing students for civil service examinations.
Lithrongla while stressing on the importance of administration and police in the government, said it is important that candidates from different communities have more or less an equal representation in the police and administrative machinery of the government.
The ADC said that theme reminds students to come out of their comfort zone, go beyond their ambitions, overcome failures and make tomorrow better than today.
 She pronounced four mantras for students to over their limitations which include ability to examine self, conscience, imagination for a better tomorrow and will power.
Asserting that Jubilee is also a year of forgiveness and repentance, the speaker also dwelt on its importance from the biblical perspective. Highlights of the valedictory session included declaration of new NSU office bearers, presentation of Vitho Society Award and special songs.
LBC: Losami Baptist Church (LBC) Christian Youth Endeavour (CYE) celebrated its 75th anniversary on December 27 under the theme “Ignite Your World” with Applied Theology, Oriental Theological Seminary, Bade, Dimapur associate professor Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o as main speaker.
During the programme, Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o challenged the youth to brighten their way in their profession.  Dr. Kowepe Kanou released the souvenir to mark the 75th anniversary.
The celebration was led by Yetewe K.Tara while welcome address was delivered by Losami CYE, director Rukewe Mekrisuh.  Solitary praise was pronounced by Pfopelo-u Kapfoh and vote of thanks was proposed by Hiweku Mebou.
