WSBAK urges churches, society to stand firm on Clean Election Movement

Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Phugoto Sema, has called upon all churches, societies, and individuals to stand firm on the NBCC Clean Election Movement – “My Vote My Future” in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) election in Nagaland.

WSBAK said it has been consistently encouraging for clean and fair elections, yet some areas still fall prey to unethical political practices. In this regard, WSBAK urged upon voters to cast their votes wisely and responsibly, in the belief that the Urban Local Body election can pave the way for state development, contingent on ethical voter conduct.

It encouraged candidates to demonstrate God-given leadership qualities, committing to serve their communities with dedication and genuine concern for their respective wards. WSBAK further urged upon all churches and societies to follow the NBCC clean election directives for a successful ULB election: Emphasize and promote “one man, one vote; ” pastors to pray at polling stations before voting begins; voters to vote consciously and fearlessly; to refrain from bribes, proxy voting, or any undemocratic behaviour; civil societies, student unions, and youth organizations to abide by the Election Code of Conduct and avoid anti-social elements and download the cVIGIL app to report any threats, violence, or misconduct at polling stations.
