Intensive aquaculture trg concludes

The third training on intensive aquaculture in ponds and tanks under the aegis of National Fishery Development Board, Hyderabad, organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tesophenyu was concluded on August 8 at JAPO Hall, Jakhama Town.
Gracing the programme as guest of honour, Dr. Deepak Chetri, Deputy Director of Agriculture highlighted the fishery status of the country and Nagaland in particular. He also stressed the importance of self sufficiency in production for the Nagas to attain economic sustenance.
In his keynote address, Dr. Temjennungsang SMS (Ani. Sc) said the training was to motivate the trainees to adopt professionalism and to acquaint them with modern technologies adding that management training and supply of inputs is essential to overcome the huge gap in demand and supply of the state. While B. Imti Tzudir SDAO and programme coordinator in-charge in his short speech highlighted the objectives, mandates and activities of KVK.
Neitho Kuotsü SDFO Directorate of Agriculture elaborated on Pond management and Fish diseases their control and treatment. While Wapang Longkumer, Fishery demonstrator district fishery office spoke on composite fish culture and paddy cum fish culture. The practical was conducted jointly by the resource persons in the fishery pond of Lhezo Zhasa of Kigwema village.
The highlights of the practical included pH testing of the pond water, Plankton collection, treatment of fish for diseases, liming and manuring of ponds.
Around 25 (twenty five) trainees participated in the training from 4 (four) villages under Southern Angami Region. The training concluded with the distribution of medicines and fingerlings to all the trainees.
