RPP condemns post-election celebrations by NDPP workers

Rising People’s Party (RPP) condemned the post-ULB election celebrations in Dimapur allegedly by NDPP party workers, where videos on social media showed people throwing money of various denominations.

RPP described the videos of Mammonistic celebrations involving Christians throwing money from an open vehicle and a balcony as highly condemnable. It said that such vulgar and shameless celebrations by NDPP party workers were unheard of in Naga culture and alien to the Naga ethos. RPP acknowledged the verdict of the people but reminded the NDPP-BJP coalition to condemn the ugly celebrations of their party workers post-election results.

RPP emphasized that the number of wins for the NDPP-BJP candidates in the ULB elections does not necessarily mean that it was an overwhelming mandate for the opposition-less government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio.

While accepting the election results, RPP urged the ruling NDPP to denounce these reprehensible actions. It pointed out that the NDPP, which has claimed to be the defender of Naga “Faith and Identity,” should condemn the “paganistic and mammonic” celebrations depicted in the videos, which are totally against Naga traditions and deeply offensive to their faith. RPP called on the NDPP to walk the talk and condemn such behavior by its rank and file.
