Training of insect collectors by NVBDCP

Training for Insect Collector Training was organized by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, in collaboration with USAID-NISHTHA/Jhpiego was held from July 2 to 3, at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.


A press statement by NCVBDC, Additional Director & SPO, DPO-CD1, Dr. R. Chubala Aier informed in a press statement that Dr. Kavito Zhimomi in his welcome address appreciated the technical partner from Nishtha which is a USAID funded project, implemented by Jhpiego, a non-profit international organization affiliated with John Hopkins University and also encouraged the participants to uphold sincerity in their respective posting place. Dr. R. Chubala Aier presented on Role of Entomology in Vector – Borne Disease Control & Job responsibilities of Insect Collector. Dr. Deputy CMO Dimapur, Antoly Swu exhorted the participants on the role in prevention and study of Vector Borne disease pattern.


The technical experts from Nishtha Jhpiego were the resource persons for the training, they highlighted on Biology of Mosquito Vectors, Vector Bionomics, Mosquito Anatomy and Identification, preparation and storage of adult mosquito samples and larvae rearing and also field visits were conducted to identify Mosquito Larva and Adult Surveillance at Gopanala area and Medical Colony.
