Newly elected EDTC members take oath

Newly elected members of the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) took oath of affirmation at a ceremony held in the conference hall of at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur on Thursday.
DC Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who administered the ‘oath of affirmation’ to 11 councillors, congratulated them on behalf of the district administration.


He described the occasion as historic as the ULB election in Nagaland was held after a gap of 20 years with 33% reservation for women for the first time. DC expressed eagerness to collaborate and work with the new councillors in the future.


The newly elected councillors who took the oath included Lireni Ovung (NDPP) from Ward 1, Niuto Awomi (NDPP) Ward 2, Kanato Sema (IND) Ward 3, Manna Zhimo (NDPP) Ward 4, K. Hokuto Murumi (NDPP) Ward 5, Vicky Achumi (IND) Ward 6, Olotoli A. Yeptho (NDPP) Ward 7, Razuo Dozo (NDPP) Ward 8, Alemla Tovi (NDPP) Ward 9, Krishna Mech (NDPP) Ward 10 and Mughavi Swu (BJP) Ward 11.


Officials including advisor for industries & commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, ADC Dimapur Mhalo Humtsoe and others attended the ceremony. Later, speaking to the media persons, DC Dimapur said that the meeting to select the chairman and deputy chairman was postponed since the councillors requested two deputy chairman positions. DC said the administration was awaiting clarification from the government.
