CM inaugurates new complex of Putuonuo Hospital

State chief minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the new complex of Putuonuo Hospital during a ceremony held at Daklane here on Saturday. In his address, Rio lauded the hospital, erstwhile Putuonuo Nursing Home, a family-run institution, which has been a cornerstone of the town for 34 years.


Describing the hospital as a “truly remarkable institution”, the chief minister highlighted the rich history of hospital, which he said was the first private inpatient medical facility in the town and had been consistently providing patient-centered care and community well-being since its inception.
“Thirty four years ago, this hospital opened its doors with a pioneering spirit, providing our town with private inpatient medical care for the first time,” Rio stated.


“Today, as it moves into this state-of-the-art complex, we celebrate not just a new building, but a legacy of care, dedication, and community service.” Further, Rio lauded the founding family for their vision and hard work, which had resulted in an institution wherein countless lives have been touched, healed, and improved.


The new complex is seen as a significant milestone, representing the unwavering dedication of the hospital’s founders, staff, and the entire community. Equipped with the latest medical technology and designed to offer a welcoming and healing environment, the new facility symbolizes the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest standard of care.


“It is a beacon of hope and progress,” Rio remarked. Acknowledging the efforts that contributed to this achievement, Rio thanked the founding family for their vision and perseverance, which created an institution that stood as a model of excellence in healthcare. He also commended the hospital staff for their compassion, professionalism and hard work, which were the heart and soul of the institution.


To the architects, builders, and everyone involved in the construction of the new complex, Rio expressed gratitude for their expertise and dedication.
Acknowledging the unwavering support of community members, the chief minister said that this new complex was a testament to their collective strength and unity.


Rio expressed his belief that the hospital would continue to provide exceptional healthcare to every member of the community. He urged everyone to look forward with hope and gratitude, celebrating the remarkable achievements of the past 34 years and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
The chief minister extended his best wishes to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Putuonuo Hospital, thanking them for their dedication and service.


Earlier, in his address, managing director of the hospital, Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, said the hospital first started as Putuonuo Nursing Home in memory of his late mother on July 6, 1990, the birth anniversary of his youngest daughter.


He said it was gradually upgraded in order to accommodate the incoming family members who had come to join the workforce after finishing their studies in different speciality over the years.
He also shared a journey of how the nursing home catered to the people of the city in its 34 years existence.


Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu while thanksgiving prayer was offered by senior pastor, City Church, Kohima, Rev Kedo Peseyie. Vote of thanks was proposed by medical director, Putuonuo Hospital, Dr Thejavinuo Keditsu Kire.
