Zhaleo Rio inaugurates rural haat

Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated the Rural Haat funded by Nagaland Bamboo Mission under Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency at Piphema “A” Village and farmers marketing shed constructed by RD Block Medziphema at Tsiepama on July 12.


The inaugural programme was also attended by BDO Medziphema, Temsumongla Longkumer, GB’s and Village Council leaders. A press release from personal secretary to advisor, Aviko Khro informed that Zhaleo while speaking on the occasion thanked the NBDA team for their good work in implementing Rural Haat at Piphema A Village. He said one of the major hindrance of development in Nagaland was land issue and appreciated the villagers for donating land generously to implement the said project.


Zhaleo, encouraged vendors to sell only organic items and generate income and livelihood through active participation of farmers and vendors. Speaking at the inauguration of farmers marketing shed at Tsiepama, Zhaleo exhorted the villagers to use the marketing shed wisely as it would serve not only local people but also foreign and local tourists coming to Nagaland due to its close proximity to NH-29.


He also encouraged the vendors to be polite and maintain cleanliness and requested the department to handover charge of the marketing shed to the village authority. Speaking on Rural Haat, NCS State Mission Director NBDA S. Tainiu, said that it was built using new technology (treated bamboo) with a utility life of 50 years in dry conditions. President Chakhroma Public Organisation Zhato Kimho, while delivering a short speech encouraged vendors to emphasise more on local produce to make it a lasting organic market and generate more sales as demand for organic vegetables and fruits is on the rise.


Earlier at Piphema, the program was chaired by Team Member NBDA Dr.Tolto Metha, invocation by pastor Baptist Church Piphema A Village Pezangulie Keyho and Chairman, Village Council Piphema A Keneiwhelie Kimho, delivered words of gratitude.


At Tsiepama, the program was chaired by VDB Secretary Kenilezo Nagi, invocation by Home Visiting pastor Tsiepama CRC Ruopfuvisie Nakhro, vote of thanks by chairman Tsiepama Village Council Seyievizo Visezuo.
