Gorkha/Nepali community of Kohima and Dimapur celebrated Bhanu Jayanti the 210th birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya in Kohima and Dimapur on July 13. In Kohima, the programme was organised by Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha Kohima (GSKSK) at GPPK Hall, Chandmari.
Gracing the occasion as special guest, Additional Director of Sericulture Department, Sanjay Rai recollected the efforts of Acharya in popularizing Nepali language and bringing the different Nepali community together.
He called upon all to follow Acharya and give the best in preservation of Nepali tradition and culture.
He also encouraged people to uphold the Nepali language by discouraging use of other languages at home or within the community.
Advocate and ex-candidate of ULB election Kohima, Priyadarshani Rana graced the occasion as guest of honour and exhorted the gathering.
The special guest and guest of honour led the leaders of the community in paying rich floral tribute to the Acharya.
The occasion was also witnessed handing over of Sudha Das Academic Excellence Award 2024 for female Gorkha/Nepali student achiever.
The award was bagged by Trishna Chettri of Vikesel’s Vision School Kohima for scoring 85.83% mark in HSLC exam 2024.
Nagaland Gorkha Association president Robin Pradhan gave a brief on the award while the special guest handed over the cash award of Rs 50,000 with a plaque.
The programme was chaired by GSKSK member Pritivika Jaishi, welcome address by GSKSK secretary Binod Mothey and welcome song by students of summer camp.
Poem recitation and cultural dance was also organised and GSKSK literary secretary Maya Gurung tendered the vote of thanks. GSUD: Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur (GSUD) in collaboration with Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur celebrated 210th Bhanu Jayanti-cum-felicitation program at Christian Higher Secondary School Hall in Dimapur.
The program was hosted by Roshan Pradhan convenor of the program GSUD. The program started with an invocation prayer by Shishir Lama youth secretary (Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland) followed by welcome address presented by Prem Lama President (GYCD).
On the occasion, Suraj Rai vice president (Nagaland Gorkha Association) addressed the gathering and highlighted the contribution of Adi Kavi Acharya Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
On the occassion successfull candidates of HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated. A cultural dance was performed by Tamang Buddhist Youth Association followed by welcome dance by Lotha Colony Youth Club and vote of thanks by president GSUD, Imnatula Chetri.
