CNCCI, DCCI, KACC affirm to monitor business activities

Staff Reporter

Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) along with Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) and Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce (KACC) have affirmed to monitor business activities in Nagaland, particularly in Dimapur, and Karbi Anglong.

Making this announcement during a joint press conference after their second round of meetings at Hotel Saramati here on Saturday, CNCCI president, Dr. Khekugha Muru, highlighted the ongoing issues faced by the business community in Nagaland. He said that CNCCI had been addressing the issues for many years by engaging with various regions of India and beyond to gain insights and share experiences. He stressed the importance of maintaining a mutual relationship with Karbi Anglong given its critical role in the business activities of neighbouring districts such as Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Niuland, Peren and Wokha.

CNCCI and KACC stressed the necessity to collaborate in addressing and resolving business-related problems. Muru also highlighted the significant challenges faced by the business community along the route from Garampani to Dimapur, which falls under the jurisdiction of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

He said the issues included higher transportation rates, excessive legal and illegal collections and the syndicate system. CNCCI president said that not only Karbi people but also individuals from Nagaland exploited those issues affecting the markets in both Nagaland and Manipur. He revealed that discussions with the Manipur Chamber of Commerce have been initiated to address those concerns and bring respite to the business community by resolving ongoing problems.

He assured that both CNCCI and KACC were making their best efforts to resolve business-related issues and sought public support from both the state governments and KAAC.
KACC chairman Augustine Kramse highlighted the complications in business activities in Karbi Anglong and Dimapur districts due to increasing syndicate activities. He recalled past issues with illegal taxation and gates in Nagaland, which had been reduced through the intervention of government and law enforcement agencies.

However, similar issues persist in Karbi Anglong, causing problems for both Nagaland and Manipur. Kramse expressed concern over the significant price hike in sand with approximate base prices from Rs14000 per 400 CFT surging dramatically by the time it reaches Dimapur to Rs.28000 to Rs.32000. He urged CNCCI and DCCI to intervene and address the matters while assuring to look into the matter from their counterpart.

DCCI president Akashe Zhimomi noted the improved coordination between DCCI and KACC after their second meeting. He emphasized the commitment of both trade bodies to strengthen their organizations and streamline problem-solving efforts to benefit both the business community and the public.
