LKM concerned over lack of progress in NH-02 works

Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has expressed deep concern over the ongoing road construction on NH-2, specifically between 185.00 km to 220.00 km, being undertaken by KKB Rhülo construction company.

In a representation addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Mokokchung, LKM president Imlinok and LKM road coordination committee convenor Ardangsen stated that there had been a lack of progress in the construction work despite continuous monitoring and encouragement from LKM.

The union asserted that the current state of the road has made it extremely challenging for the travellers and local community to commute safely. LKM stated that the ongoing road construction, which was being carried out poorly, has led to frequent breakdowns and accidents posing a significant threat to the public. “This negligence in road maintenance has caused grave concerns for the safety of the commuters,” the student body stated.

LKM has, therefore, urged the district administration to intervene and address the issue promptly by July 30, 2024 for the welfare of the general public. Asserting that the union expected significant progress in the construction work, the LKM cautioned that failure to do so would compel the union to take “necessary actions” until the situation improved.
