WSH appeals govt to address Aghunaqa farmers’ distress

Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has appealed to the state government to urgently address the catastrophic situation of farmers in Aghunaqa under Niuland district. WSH through its media cell stated that Aghunaqa farmers have faced unprecedented hardships for over four-five years. WSH stated that a devastating combination of Covid-19, natural disasters, and recent torrential rains has pushed the farmers to the brink of collapse. It pointed out that the latest deluge has ravaged their crops, properties, and livelihoods, plunging them into unmitigated distress.

“As they struggle to come to terms with their losses, their situation demands immediate intervention and support,” WSH asserted. The hoho has, therefore, appealed to the state government to take swift and decisive action to address the farmers’ grievances.

WSH demanded a comprehensive assessment of the flood damage, prompt relief and compensation to affected farmers, and implementation of sustainable measures to counter the impact of natural calamities and climate change.

It stated that supporting farmers in rebuilding their lives and revitalizing agricultural activities was vital at this critical juncture. Acknowledging the government’s efforts to address citizens’ needs, the WSH expressed hope that the government would treat the crisis with the gravity and urgency it warranted.
