Severe flash flood has ravaged Ralan area, specifically Ronsayan and Jandalashung B villages, under Bhandari sub-division in Wokha district, leaving a trail of destruction and displacement in its wake.
The flash flood triggered by relentless heavy rainfall on Monday submerged major portions of residential areas, causing extensive damage to homes, livestock, and infrastructure.

Speaking to Nagaland Post, Ralan Area GB Union president Renben Humtsoe said paddy fields, fisheries, areca nut and rubber plantations, etc, had been damaged, along with livestock, causing livelihood crisis. He said that several houses had been swept away, leaving residents homeless, while there was shortage of basic necessities like food and clean water. Referring to the two flash floods that occurred this month, he expressed frustration that the government had failed to conduct inspections or provide assistance.

Referring to the slow response of the authorities compared to other states, he appealed for immediate intervention of the government. The residents of Ralan area also urged the government and authorities concerned to inspect the area and provide support to those affected.
